Mô tả
*Description: English Academic Writing provides a systematic introduction to the principles and conventions of academic writing. The course offers a thorough analysis of common academic writing tasks, focusing on paragraph and essay development. Students will learn to plan, draft, revise, and edit their writing effectively, producing coherent and well-structured academic texts. *Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to: - Analyze the organization and structure of academic paragraphs and essays. - Understand and apply the conventions and norms of academic writing. - Develop critical thinking, analytical, and reasoning skills to construct well-supported arguments. - Produce different genres of academic writing, including cause/effect, process, comparison/contrast, argumentative, problem/solution, and classification essays. *Teaching methods: - The course adopts a flexible, student-centered approach. Instructors may select teaching methods that best suit their class context, such as using lecture slides, guided learning materials, and interactive activities. Lessons incorporate pair work, small-group, and whole-class discussions to engage students in all stages of the writing process—planning, drafting, revising, editing, and evaluating written work. - AI-based writing tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, QuillBot) may be integrated to support brainstorming, revising, and self-evaluating students’ writing. The use of AI is guided by principles of academic integrity and responsible learning to enhance writing autonomy and reflection.
