Objective This course aims to introduce students to the foundational principles of corpus linguistics while providing hands-on experience with corpus tools and analysis. Students will learn how to build and interpret corpora, apply basic statistical methods, use a register-based analytical framework, present their research findings, and explore advanced directions in the field. Description This course offers a practical introduction to corpus linguistics through hands-on work with real-world language data. Students will use accessible tools like AntConc and BYU corpora to build, explore, and analyze their own corpora. Emphasis is placed on developing search strategies, interpreting findings, and using basic statistics. The course also introduces a register-based approach to guide analysis and includes support for research writing and presentations. Designed for beginners, it aims to inspire further study and prepare students for more advanced corpus research.
