Mô tả

- Description: Discourse Analysis (DA) is an interdisciplinary field of linguistics that explores language beyond the sentence level in both spoken and written forms, viewing it as a social practice through DA methodologies such as conversation analysis, corpus linguistics, and multimodal analysis. - Objectives: Drawing from linguistics, sociology, and communication studies, the course aims to introduce students to key theories, concepts, and practices in DA, covering a range of topics such as Identity, Gender, Culture, Ideology, Code-switching, Pragmatics, Discourse grammar, Intertextuality, and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). This course also emphasizes critical thinking, open-mindedness, and research skills, encouraging students to analyze various texts and communication events creatively and deeply. It helps develop students’ ability to work independently, effectively collaborate in pairs and groups and direct their own learning. Additionally, it helps enhance students' linguistic skills and language proficiency equivalent to C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), preparing them for careers in linguistics, communication, and education. - Teaching and Learning Methodology: This course applies instructional, communicative, and interactive discussions with guidelines for pre-lesson and post-lesson activities designed to reinforce acquired skills, opportunities to explore theoretical and practical aspects of the subject matter, an open-minded approach to addressing questions and clarifying any confusions during lessons, supplementary lectures and discussions to enhance students’ engagement with the topics, text analysis projects or group research presentations to further develop practical skills in discourse analysis, and peer review sessions to help students gain experience in giving and receiving constructive feedback.
