Mô tả
This course develops English–Vietnamese and Vietnamese–English interpreting competence through authentic tasks situated in academic, public-sector, and workplace contexts. Learners analyze sources of meaning loss and apply equivalence strategies; manage register and shades of meaning to produce concise, accurate formal outputs; evaluate argumentative discourse and make justified ethical decisions; and interpret policy, political, and domain-specific discourse with verified terminology. Culture-bound references, implicature, humor, Latinisms, and loan expressions are treated with appropriate transfer strategies. Teamwork, turn-taking, co-interpreter support, and professional conduct are embedded throughout. AI is used as a probe with human verification and ethical safeguards. All activities and assessments align with the course CLOs and contribute to relevant PLOs. By the end of the course, students will be able to: - Apply advanced interpreting principles to produce context-appropriate renditions across academic, public, and workplace settings. - Analyze and select target-language expressions to control register and shades of meaning. - Evaluate argumentative discourse and uphold professional ethics while collaborating effectively in co-interpreting roles. - Integrate domain knowledge (policy, socio-economics) into interpreting decisions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
