This course provides a comprehensive foundation in research design and proposal writing, guiding students in developing the conceptual understanding and practical skills necessary to craft a sound research proposal. Students will explore the philosophical underpinnings and methodological distinctions among qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches, integrating this knowledge into the formulation of coherent research designs. Emphasis is placed on conducting a literature review, articulating theoretical frameworks, writing purpose statements, formulating research questions or hypotheses, and developing appropriate research methodologies aligned with qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods designs. Through hands-on writing activities, students apply critical thinking to construct the key elements of both quantitative and qualitative research proposals. Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Google NotebookLM) are integrated to enhance writing quality and streamline research processes, with strong emphasis on ethical and responsible use. The course also nurtures a positive research attitude by fostering integrity, transparency, and accountability in anticipating and addressing ethical issues throughout the research process.
