This course, adopting project-based learning (PBL), equips students with the skills to apply appropriate translation strategies to various contemporary text types, with a strong emphasis on the integration of generative AI/CAT tools throughout the translation process. Students will engage in the interlingual translation of a range of texts—including administrative (e.g., degrees, certificates, contracts), business (e.g., transaction agreements, financial statements), technical, and socio-cultural materials—between Vietnamese and English. Through real-world translation tasks and projects that require them to combine traditional translation techniques with AI-powered tools, students will: - Develop a clear understanding of different text types, formats, and domains; - Accurately identify and use specialized terminology in administrative, technical, economic, scientific, and socio-cultural contexts; - Translate various documents and texts from Vietnamese into English and vice versa, using both traditional and AI-supported approaches; - Critically evaluate and effectively employ AI/CAT tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Google Translate, Matecat, Smartcat, MemoQ) to improve translation quality, consistency, and efficiency. This course encourages students to adopt a reflective and ethical approach to AI integration, preparing them for the evolving demands of the translation profession.
