Objectives: The course is designed to help undergraduate students to grasp the key concepts and practices of persuasive communication today. Through real-life situations as well as authentic materials, students will be able to develop their communication and persuasion skills. Description EPC301 provides students with a comprehensive yet accessible overview of the study and practice of persuasive communication. It also demonstrates how theories and research illuminate and adapt to the present digital era, with continued attention to ethical implications and today’s big topics. The course includes up-to-date definitions of key terms in the field as they relate to present-day practice; an integration of persuasion theories and the ubiquity of online influence; new examples and cases to illustrate persuasive communication’s approach to health campaigns, attitudes, communicator appeals, dissonance, and ethics; and a thorough reflection of the most current scholarship in the field. Teaching Methods: The teaching & learning process includes a variety of methods: From teachers’ side: lectures, guided learning, feedback and corrections; From students’ side: discussions, presentations, research, writing and self-study. Assessment scheme: 1) On-going assessment - Assignments 02*20% 40% - Presentation 01*20% 20% 2) Final examination (Project): 40% 3) Final Result 100% 4) Completion Criteria: a) On-going assessment >0, Each component >0 b) Final examination: >=4 c) Final Result >=5
