This course provides an in-depth exploration of event studies, with a specific focus on the theory and practice of planned events. It critically examines the multifaceted roles events play within socio-cultural, economic, political, and environmental contexts. Through a blend of conceptual frameworks and international case studies, students will analyze diverse event typologies—ranging from local festivals to global mega-events—while assessing their strategic significance and broader impacts. Emphasis is placed on equipping students with essential competencies in event planning, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and outcome evaluation. In addition, the course investigates the application of event strategies in media, public relations, and brand activation, encompassing formats such as product launches, press events, trade exhibitions, and live entertainment. Contemporary practices in sponsorship negotiation, collaborative event design, crisis communication, and the integration of emerging technologies—including AI and digital platforms—are also addressed, preparing students for effective and innovative event delivery in dynamic real-world settings.

1. Class attendance is strongly encouraged. Attend at least 80% of class hours in order to be accepted to the final examination 2. Actively participate in class activities 3. Fulfill tasks given by the instructor 4. Use their own laptops in class only for learning purposes 5. Read the textbook in advance 6. Complete the course portfolio with complete set of exercises and submit it to the instructor at the end of the course.
