1. Objective: Showing knowledge and understanding of classic and modern English and American prose, their social and cultural contexts. Helping students develop emotional literacy and social and cultural understanding. 2. Description: This module will appeal to students with an interest in exploring the diversity and vibrancy of classic and contemporary American and English literature. Students will be studying a range of engaging English and American texts, from the major genres of social novel, romance novel, detective fiction, and thriller. 3. Teaching method: lecture and seminar format 4. Assessment scheme: On-going assesment: 70% Final examination: 30 % Completion Criteria: On-going assessment >0, Final Exam Score >=4/10 & Final Result >=5/10

- Students must attend at least 80% of contact slots in order to be accepted to the final examination. - Student is responsible for doing all exercises, and assignments given by the instructor in class or at home and submit on time - Use laptops in class only for learning purposes
