Main objective: This course is designed to develop advanced knowledge, managerial thinking, and professional competencies essential for executive housekeepers in hotel and lodging establishments. Students will acquire expertise in departmental organization, asset and inventory management, human resources, quality assurance, risk and environmental management, and the integration of professional ethics and sustainable practices to enhance both operational efficiency and guest satisfaction. -Description: Through a comprehensive structure reflecting current industry standards, the course explores the strategic and technical responsibilities of executive housekeepers, including department planning; organizing, directing, and controlling resources; budget and labor control; equipment, laundry, and cleaning operations; as well as health, safety, and environmental leadership. Emphasis is placed on human resource management, communication and teamwork in multicultural environments, problem-solving, total quality management (TQM), and effective interaction with other hotel divisions to achieve organizational goals. Case studies, practical issues (from the textbook), and real-world scenarios are incorporated to strengthen the link between theory and practice, while fostering ethics and adaptability in decision-making. -Teaching method: A blend of teaching strategies is adopted, including interactive lectures, case study analysis, group discussion, skill demonstration, management simulation, situational problem-solving, collaborative projects, and hands-on practice drawn from the textbook’s minicases and operational cases.
