This course is designed to help introduce to the students the basics of Semantics in a step by step process through Semantics 101. In addition to the Semantics a Coursebook unit outlines, the course is enhanced with supplementary activities corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course will help students: - have a grasp of the basics of Semantics through class discussions and presentations - discover the use of the basics of Semantics in oral and written communication by conducting collaborative discussions and using AI-assisted tools - interact confidently with the lecturer and fellow students in dissolving disagreements about their answers during collaborative discussions - engage in collaborative discussions with the lecturer and fellow students in preparing group presentations and a group project using appropriate language in oral and written communication skills. - apply semantic theory and AI-assisted tools to investigate meaning phenomena in English language by conducting a group project - understand and produce academic writing paper that demonstrates theoretical understanding, critical reasoning, and evidence-based argumentation - develop professional communication and academic presentation skills through group presentations, oral project defense and collaborative discussions - cultivate students’ awareness of ethical and responsible use of linguistic data, theories, and AI technology Teaching and Learning Approaches /Pedagogical Approaches - Direct Instruction - Constructivist Approach -Workshop-based Learning - Inquiry-based Learning - Case-based Learning - Practice-based Learning - Scaffolded Instruction - Collaborative Learning - Problem-based Learning - Project-based Learning - Digital Literacy Pedagogy Assessment scheme: On-going assessment >0, Final Exam Score >=4/10 & Final Result >=5/10
